Eligibility Criteria of POWERGRID Apprentices Recruitment 2026
Candidates must hold a full-time, regular ITI certificate, Diploma or Engineering degree in the trade applied for (see the Post-wise Eligibility table below). Part-time, correspondence, distance-learning or online-mode qualifications are not accepted.
Age Limit
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age at the time of application. No maximum age limit is specified in the notification.

An additional ₹2,500 per month is payable if company accommodation is not provided or not availed. The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) portion is disbursed by the Government of India under the NATS scheme and requires an active, Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account.
Selection Process
- Applications are screened and a trade-wise merit list is prepared based on the qualifying percentage of marks and eligibility conditions.
- Incomplete or ineligible applications are rejected without individual intimation.
- Reservation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD candidates is applied as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (as amended).
- Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification in a 1:5 ratio against the notified slots, in merit order; no TA/DA is paid for attending.
- A final merit list is prepared from candidates found suitable after document verification.
- Selected candidates must accept a tripartite apprenticeship contract on the NATS/NAPS portal and submit a medical certificate and police verification before engagement.
There is no written examination and no interview at any stage of this recruitment.
