SMC Recruitment 2026 – Vacancy Details

The Surat Municipal Corporation has announced a total of 2,295 vacancies under the SMC Recruitment 2026 for various technical and specialist cadres.

These vacancies are distributed across multiple posts such as Clerk, Engineers, Planning Officers, Health Officers, Technicians, and other technical positions in different departments of the corporation.

The recruitment follows the reservation policy of the India, with category-wise reservations for:

• Scheduled Castes (SC)
• Scheduled Tribes (ST)
• Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC)
• Unreserved (General)
• Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)

In addition, 33% horizontal reservation for women candidates has also been provided as per the applicable government rules.

SMC Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the SMC Recruitment 2026 must meet the educational and skill requirements specified by the Surat Municipal Corporation for different posts. The eligibility criteria for some major posts are given below:

• Mechanical / Automobile Engineer
  • Candidates must have a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering from a recognised university. Applicants should also possess basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi language.
• Electrical Engineer
  • Applicants must hold a B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university. In addition, candidates should have basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi.
• Town Planning Officer / Planner
  • Candidates should have qualifications such as M.Arch, M.E. (Civil), B.Arch, or B.E. (Civil) along with a Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in City, Town, or Regional Planning, or must be a member of the Institute of Town Planners after passing its examination. Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi are also required.
• Food Safety Officer
  • Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in subjects such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agriculture, Horticulture, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences. Alternatively, candidates may have a one-year PG Diploma in Food Safety and Quality Assurance, or B.E./B.Tech in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, or related processing disciplines, or a four-year degree in Medicine, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, or Animal Science. Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi are also required.
• X-Ray Technician
  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognised university and must have passed an X-Ray Technician course from a Government institute or recognised medical college. Applicants should also have basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi.
